My passion for writing began at school. English was my favourite subject and I relished my role as a cub reporter on the school newspaper. I always had my head in a book and used a torch to read under the covers long after lights out!
After graduating with a degree in communications more than 20 years ago, I took my first steps towards a career as a copywriter when I fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming a trainee reporter on my local newspaper.
I qualified as a senior journalist, climbed the career ladder to assistant editor of two weekly newspapers, moved to regional daily newspapers as a freelance sub-editor and back to weekly newspapers as a content manager.
I took a side step to manage the B2B marketing publications portfolio for a global industrial distributor and later moved into magazines to become editor of Midlands Living where I wrote editorial and commercial copy. In 2019, I volunteered to work on a local hospice's PR, communications and digital media campaigns before launching Priority Copy that autumn.
